Art Retreat at Chateau de Thuries

I've just returned from teaching my first art retreat in the Southwest of France. It was such a wonderful experience. We stayed at Chateau de Thuries and painted in the studio of the chateau as well as in the garden. The owners, Jayne and Steve were so friendly, generous and hospitable - they were the best!

We visited a lively French market and plenty of quaint villages as well as the medieval cities of Carcassonne and Albi. We also had time to browse the village of Lautrec and the Toulouse Lautrec museum/gallery in Albi.

Jayne and Steve were the most incredible hosts and the food was divine!

We had a lovely group of ladies (and one gent) from both the UK and the US. Steve kindly drove us around on the excursions and we even came across a little music festival at one village. You never know what you’ll come across on these excursions, from little french markets to windmills, rivers and lakes.

This is Lac de St Ferreol where we sketched one morning:

Oh my goodness, it was exhausting, but I can’t wait to do it again. It was so much fun.
