Welcome to my art musings

In this art blog, I’ll be covering all things creative: some techniques; my studio processes; the industry as a whole; workshops and classes and anything which I feel needs a little chat about!

First though, who am I?

Well that’s a hard thing to write, without it beginning to sound like a CV. So I’ll be brief, which isn’t easy because I’m now in my 50’s and I’ve done a lot of things!

I’ve worked in the creative industry - always in visual imagery in one form or other. Mostly I worked for record companies and commissioned photoshoots and music video shoots. I also worked for a time as a photographer (in the US) and was a judge at International photography fairs. I have owned an art gallery, written and photographed for magazines and NGOs. I shot a personal project about contemporary Native American Culture, which was exhibited at a museum both in the US and UK. The museum brought across some of those people I photographed to run workshops here in the UK.

More recently on my return to the UK, I had a sudden urge to do a screen printing course. I just loved it! It was like being in an Aladdin’s cave of fun - getting messy with paints! I decided I needed to start painting again, having not tried it since my art A’level many, many moons ago.

Since then I haven’t stopped and I’m so thrilled to be doing this full time now. I’m also getting to the point where I feel I can share some of the knowledge I’ve acquired and hope to start running some art classes very soon.

So please, grab yourself a cuppa, and settle in to see if any of these art musings resonate with you. Perhaps you’ll like to comment, agree or disagree or add your own opinions. Join the community by following my facebook and instagram pages and subscribe to my occasional newsletters. Mostly thank you for swinging by and enjoy!!
